- Big projects and all golf courses have water features. All of us have a desire for gleaming
lakes and streams free from pests, algae or odor. Today most superintendents and
property managers are
faced with using waste water. GEA has experience with bad water on dozens of jobs, and we've found many
different solutions to suit nearly any situation. One unfortunate fact about
water treatment is it's expense. Golf Engineering Associates has a plan for
solving difficult water issues:
- Take water samples and get laboratory analysis to diagnose the problems.
- Contact experts in water quality engineering; experts we know well.
- Brainstorm to achieve the best possible solutions, always think
"green turf".
- Generate a budget, timeline and specifications to enact the solutions.

| We
have found that different water treatment methods work better in conjunction
with each other. Many competing products are available. When you need advice on
which system will work for your site or not, give us a call. Common systems
include: |
 |
- Filtration: mechanically removing suspended solids from the water,
also effective
against clam infestation.
- Aeration: introducing air into the water to prevent stagnation;
fountains, ozone and recirculating pumps.
- Effluent Treatment Plants: building water treatment plants on-site.
- Acid Injection Systems: direct sulfuric acid injection into
irrigation mainlines to lower Ph values, combat high salt content and improve soil chemistry.
- Biological Controls: introduction of bacteria-eating microbes, soil
improving agents, algae loving fish.
- Fertilizer Injection Systems: pump station mounted injection
systems with fertilizers and micro nutrients.
- Sulfer Burners: elemental sulfur is used to lower Ph, decrease
high carbonates/bicarbonates, aid in water absorption and drainage through
the soil profile.
